As with any virus, everyone has the potential to get sick. However, the risk of becoming seriously ill is thought to be low. Those at a higher risk are older adults or those who have pre-existing health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, or lung disease.

The best way to lower your risk is to maintain vigilant sanitary actions through:
- Washing your hands anytime you have been in a public place.
- Using hand sanitizer when hand washing isn’t available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
In addition, you can lower your risk by avoiding unnecessary contact with others. Avoid public places and transportation to the best of your ability. This can include work, travel, concerts, sports games, bars, clubs, or anywhere there is a large number of people in a small space.
Symptoms of the Coronavirus
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if you have been exposed to the Coronavirus, you may begin showing symptoms within 2-14 days of exposure. Symptoms can include, but are not limited to:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
The CDC also states that Emergency warning signs include:
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to arouse
- Bluish lips or face.
What to Do If You Display Symptoms
If you are displaying general symptoms of the Coronavirus, it is vital to call your doctor. Before going to your doctor’s office or Emergency Room, call to let them know of your symptoms. They will advise you on the appropriate actions you should take. However, if you display emergency warning signs for Coronavirus, you must seek medical attention immediately by going to the Emergency Room. If you can call on the way, please do so, but do not delay in seeking help.
If you feel like you have Coronavirus, avoid contact with others. Quarantine yourself away from family, friends, and pets until you can seek medical attention. If you have contracted it, there is a good possibility that those in immediate contact with you have it as well. If you have a confirmed case, immediately let those you have been in contact with know so that they may seek medical attention as well.
